So beginning January 1st, aside from the large pot of black eyed peas which I traditionally eat EVERY New Year's Day, I recommitted myself to eating foods that make me feel good physically. While a little weight loss would be welcomed, that is not my goal. Instead, I'm aiming for more control over the choices I make. I want to keep inflammation down, keep insulin levels stable, and improve my gut health. The best template I can use to achieve these goals is paleo. It starts one meal at a time, one day at a time, one choice at a time. I'm armed and motivated by the recent feelings of bloat, puffiness, tiredness, and gluttony. I had my fun. Now I've switched gears and look forward to finding new recipes, enjoying different meals, and reaping the benefits of delicious whole foods.
Are you ready for this new year? Find a local paleo challenge or do one on your own. Embark on a 30 day, clean eating regime and learn about how food affects you. Make the hard choices. Change your lifestyle. It will all be worth it. For a great resource on paleo eating, read the book "It Starts With Food" by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig, or visit their site Whole 9 Life.
Here's to a clean, lean 2K13.
